Ingredients:
1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
2 large eggs, beaten
5 tablespoons salted butter, melted
1 bag (12 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare Baking Dish:
Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. You can use the kind that has flour in it for better results.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry cake mix with the melted butter and beaten eggs. The batter will be very thick, so it’s easier to use an electric or stand mixer.
Add Chocolate Chips:
Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Spread Batter:
Spread the thick batter into the greased baking dish. An easy way to do this is to spray your hand with nonstick cooking spray and then use your hand to spread the batter evenly. The batter is thick, so this method can be more effective.
Bake:
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes. The bars will puff up as they cook and should be golden brown around the edges when done.
Check for Doneness:
To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center. It should come out with a few moist crumbs but not wet batter when the bars are ready.
Cool:
Allow the baked bars to cool in the baking dish. This will help them set and firm up.
Serve:
Once cooled, cut the bars into squares or rectangles and serve. Enjoy your Lazy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars!
Note: Feel free to customize this recipe by adding nuts, coconut, or other mix-ins to suit your taste. These bars are perfect for a quick and easy dessert!
